Accuracy

Accuracy is the likelihood of a move hitting the opponent. It is a combination of move accuracy, the accuracy stat and the evasion stat.

Basics[edit]

All moves have a base accuracy which is their percentage chance of hitting with no other modifiers. At the start of a battle, Pycotrophs will start with their accuracy stat at 100% and their evasion stat at 0%. During a battle, a Pycotrophs accuracy and evasion can be increased or decreased. These modifiers will be combined with the moves accuracy to decide the moves chance of hitting, missing or being a glancing blow.

Glancing Blows[edit]

If a moves effective accuracy is lower than 100% then it will have a chance of dealing a glancing blow. A glancing blow will deal damage up to (100-accuracy modifiers)% of the original damage. For damaging moves with secondary effects, a glancing blow will not activate the secondary effect. If the move is an effect move, then the modifier will instead be used to calculate a second chance for it hitting but at a further reduced rate. For example, if a Pycotrophs accuracy has been reduced by 20% then a glancing blow will deal 80% damage. In this example, an effect move that hit as a glancing blow would instead have a 25% chance of failing and an 75% chance of succeeding. Some effect moves may have their effect reduced if they are a glancing blow; for example, a Status Condition may last for less time or a stat boost may be reduced.
